For those that have read the most recent Lavon newsletter, you may have noticed a National Night Out article to where the city would like everyone to have a block party in relation to the National Crime Watch program. Specifically, they would like everyone to have a block party on August 1st, which is a Tuesday (this is a nationally set date). I've polled most everyone reading this e-mail to find out what everyone's thoughts were about having a block party on this specific date. Most everyone voiced that they would like to have a block party, but on a weekend and either earlier in the summer, or later in the fall when it is cooler. With that said, I have notified the city and stated that we would like to postpone our block party to a later date (to be decided). The city stated that the Windmill subdivision has done the same thing, so we aren't the only ones postponing our block party.
