Hey Guys (and Gals)
I am a little confused here ... is the "Collin County Outer Loop" (CCOL) part of the plan for the "Trans Texas Cooridor" (TTC), or are they 2 different projects?

Personally I think the CCOL will be great, not just connecting 30 to 380, but heading west there after toward denton and 35.

(Call me crazy, but I take my family to church in Frisco ... long story ... but worth the trip)

The "TTC-35" I am a bit more apprehensive about ...

http://ttc.keeptexasmoving.com/pdfs/projects/ttc35/master_development_plan/Chapter_2_Universe_of_Facililities.pdf
With a 1200' ROW  :o (One thousand Two hundred foot Right of way - nearly 1/4 mile wide(5280' is a mile))
see page 2-3 "Primary Facility" - 18 lanes of road traffic + freight rail, commuter rail and room for high speed rail.
All on a highway from Mexico to Oklahoma ... ok, maybe apprehensive isn't the right term ... that concept scares me...

http://ttc.keeptexasmoving.com/projects/ttc35/deis_overview.aspx

Please guys, bring me back to reality if I'm being an alarmist or overreacting (which I hope I am) ... it's just every now and then I fell sort of like the frog in the pot on the stove ... right now it's just a couple of lanes to "keep the frog warm" and get me where I need to go with this "local county project"... but one day it looks like they plan to turn the heat to boil .. then will we end up next to an ? international super highway ???

The Texas Farm Bureau with the help of law professors from Baylor Law School did a study that was published on March 28, 2008 about cost and effect of the Trans Texas Highway.

So, not to drag up an old thread, but I am, I thought I heard somewhere that the subject matter of the outer loop got shot down due to all the negative feedback. I checked out the site that had the original information and haven't seen any updates in a long while. Has anyone heard anything about this lately? I guess this subject matter is unrelated to the purposal of the damn over Lake Lavon which is in the other more current message thread.

It is interesting...
This document seems to contain the most up-to-date information: http://www.co.collin.tx.us/commissioners_court/mobility_projects/moblityopt2007.pdf

This document contains the updated 2007 mobility plan on page 32 (pdf page 39)

But the pages on the site have not been updated to reflect this 15+ month old document...
As a matter of fact, I don't think anything under http://www.co.collin.tx.us/commissioners_court/mobility_projects/index.jsp has been updated in that time frame.

Based on the construction work they are doing on 205, and to the north in the valley in front of the big white house, I wouldn't say this thing is dead ... maybe the Trans Texas is dead, but CCOL is progressing

NOTE: In the back pages, one of the things Wylie mentions about the population estimates - Wylie already exceeds the estimate population numbers forcast for year 2020 used to justify these roads ... I am sure Lavon (what does the sign say next to Big Daddy's? ... pop under 900?) is not acurate in their plan either... They don't know we are out here, that's why 78 doesn't get the attention it needs - LOL

A more recent update has been posted (last month). Sounds like the whole thing got shot down, for now, link below:

However, it sounds like now they are shooting for a different strategy, link below. This one is back in July, but I thought I read something a little more recent, I'll have to dig around.

Looks like the Trans Texas Cooridor and the Collin County Outer Loop are two seperately funded projects:
http://www.co.collin.tx.us/commissioners_court/mobility_projects/outerloop.jsp

the latest on the outer loop still has it green lighted and on schedule in a September 2009 meeting at Community High School / Nevada.  Pay no attention to the map on page 14 - the right of way approved segment by segment is the path the road will take.  Segments 2 and 4 will have the closest impact on the Lavon area, and the ORANGE stripes on the segment maps are the ones approved by the Collin County toll road authority for these 2 segments (see pages 15 & 17 on http://www.co.collin.tx.us/commissioners_court/mobility_projects/outer_loop/CC_Outer_Loop_9_17_Public_Presentation.pdf )

Thanks for the clarification, I guess this thread did touch two different topics! I'd think the outer loop would be a good thing for the Lavon area. Of course the impact to those who live near the propose roadways might not like it. Then again, if Rockwall would ever build the John King overpass, that would benefit Lavon as well. Obvious with the economy today, money is the issue.
