Wrecks on Hwy 78
« on: December 18, 2010, 02:12:29 AM »
In case some of you did not see it, there was a 4 car accident on Hwy 78 between Bentley and Main Street the other day.  While the emergency crews were at that accident scene, another 2 car accident happened at Hwy 78 and FM 6!

Please drive cautiously!

I know that the road widening will still be some time before it reaches us out past 205 even though I think that they should have started the work on this side of the lake first.  Heck, they had just finished Hwy 78 in Sachse.  Why would they finish the roadwork in Sachse, and then tear it up and start all over if besides me.

If there is an accident on Hwy 78 coming through Lavon, please try and find an alternate route home to bypass it.  Not only will it save you time from having to sit in traffic, it will also make the scene safer for the emergency crews that are having to work the accident scenes.  If you do get stuck in the traffic, please, be patient and don't cause another accident!

Just my 2 cents    ::)

Another big one today.  No details yet but I had to go across the Dam Rd to get home.  An hour from Wal-Mart.

Controversary around plans for a Bridge over Lake Lavon
« Reply #3 on: January 04, 2011, 10:49:01 AM »
Long story short ...

The original "long term growth" plans for Collin County had 4 or 5 bridges drawn over Lake Lavon.
In the long term plans, those bridges where consolidated down to 1, and some pre-engineering-ish work was done around that plan and path etc.

It was recognized as a heated topic: http://www.nbcdfw.com/traffic/transit/Possibility-of-Lake-Lavon-Bridge-Divides-Residents-96695434.html

A group set up this site:  http://www.savelakelavon.com/

Then voiced strongly their opinion to Collin County at a meeting: http://www.pegasusnews.com/news/2009/oct/08/anti-lake-lavon-bridge-protesters-crowd-bridge-hea/

Collin County said - Life's to short to argue, there is no one standing here "For" the bridge and 20 people "Against" - Then said something like for now we'll just consider it removes from the plan. (at least for a long time)

A Lake Lavon Pro Bridge group was setup on facebook: http://www.facebook.com/people/Lake-Lavon-Pro-Bridge/1371874988#!/profile.php?id=1371874988

I'm not looking to make this a giant flaming debate thread, but if you know of additional resources on the topic, have an opinion that can be shared without calling the previous poster a do-do head, or know of upcomming county meetings on the topic, please share  :)
