Lake Road
« on: March 26, 2009, 11:31:33 PM »
As if it couldn't get any worse, this road has deteriorated to the point that dodging massive potholes while respecting oncoming traffic has become increasingly difficult.  FIX THIS ROAD!!!  And stop patching it with asphalt.  It needs a complete resurfacing. Use the machine we bought and just do your job.......

Well, I guess a half hearted "thank you" is in order for at least patching SOME of the holes on this third world road.  Sure makes me think twice about supporting local businesses with my tax dollars.....

From the City of Lavon Newsletter May 2009;

"For those who have not heard, we received notification from the county that they will help us with repairing Lake Road.
They are finishing up a project that has been somewhat delayed due to all the rain and as soon as that is finished, we are
next on the list. They estimate a start date within the next one to five weeks!"

Anyone notice how "repairing" Lake Road is italicized?  What do you reckon that means?  More of the same ol' garbage???

The entire road needs replaced, versus 'repaired', whatever that implies. It'll be interesting to see what is done to fix it. The road has been patched too many times. Every time it rains, it just gets worse!

Okay...  Lavon newsletter May 2009 stated that Lake road was "next on the list" for repairs in "one to five weeks".

Being the forgiving type, I'll start at May 31st and go with the extreme of "five weeks".  That'd be the first week of July.  Have you driven on Lake road lately?  It's a friggin joke!  It's the worst I've seen it, and that's saying quite a bit given how boad this road is.  Fixing this road was one of the talking points of Mayor Martin's re-election stump.  WHEN WILL WE SEE THIS HAPPEN???  It's needs replacing!  No more patches!  Do what you promised!

Sadly, there are fair number of roads anymore that are in need of repair. There are a number of roads in Rockwall county that are just as bad. I'm finding that many of the 'patch' jobs aren't making things better. Instead of a hole, now we have a big rough patch since these patches aren't exactly smooth. I've already had to replace the struts on one vehicle because they were leaking. Do we get tax breaks for all the extra car repairs :-)

I know this road is scheduled for resurfacing in the not too distant future (I'll believe it when the tractors show up) so I'll curb my tired diatribe a bit this time.  Boy has this lousy piece of thoroughfare become nearly impassable!  The "Great Blizzard of 2010" created an obstacle course the Army Proving Grounds would be proud of.  However, the response by the city of filling the giant holes with dirt is a slap in the face (not to mention the treacherous hidden mud divots it created).  Until the project is started to create a "new" Lake Rd, we have to use it on a daily basis.  How about you fill the potholes with asphalt one more time so we don't all end up needing to buy a Bigfoot or Grave Digger to go to La Flor.  Throw a large tax base a bone.......
